Xcaret Park: $159 Ticket Price, What’s Included & How Long to Stay (2026)

Xcaret Park in 2026: reference ticket price, what's included, main attractions, hours, how to get there from Cancún or Playa del Carmen, and why booking direct beats the resort tour desk.

Xcaret Park in One Look: Price, Hours and How Much Time to Give It

Xcaret is Grupo Xcaret’s original eco-archaeological park on the coast of Quintana Roo, about an hour south of Cancún and just fifteen minutes from Playa del Carmen. One ticket covers underground rivers, a recreated Maya village, a wildlife-filled aviary and butterfly pavilion, a beach, and a large nightly cultural show. As of our most recent check, basic adult admission runs around $159 USD at the gate, dropping to roughly $143 USD if you book seven or more days ahead on Xcaret’s own site. Treat that as a reference price and not a guarantee, since the park runs seasonal promotions and adjusts rates through the year, so confirm the current number before you pay. Plan on a full day. Gates open at 8:30 am and the park stays open until 10 pm, with the nightly show starting around 7 pm, and trying to fit Xcaret into a half day usually means missing the show that most visitors rate as the best part.

What the Basic Ticket Actually Includes

Xcaret bundles more than fifty attractions into a single admission, which is why it books out a full day even for people who move fast. The basic ticket covers all three underground rivers, with life vests and a waterproof bag provided at no extra charge, plus the Paradise River, a dry raft option for anyone who would rather stay out of the water. It also includes the beach, the inlet and the natural pools, the Butterfly Pavilion, the Coral Reef Aquarium, and the Aviary, home to macaws and the flamingos the park is known for. Children’s World, a supervised play zone for kids under twelve, is part of admission too, along with the Maya village and Artisan’s Village, where guides walk through traditional homes and crafts. The nightly México Espectacular show, a production with roughly 300 performers that mixes ballet folklórico, the Voladores de Papantla and a re-creation of a pre-Hispanic ballgame, is also included rather than sold as an add-on. Parking is free if you drive yourself.

What is not included: swimming with dolphins is run by a separate operator inside the park and sold and paid for on top of admission, and Xcaret’s sister parks, Xplor, Xenses and Xoximilco, are entirely separate tickets. Children ages 5 to 11 get roughly 25 percent off the adult rate, and kids under 5 get in free with ID.

Half Day or Full Day? Hours and When to Arrive

Xcaret is open daily from 8:30 am to 10 pm, all year. The honest answer to how much time you need is a full day, arriving close to opening and staying through the night show. Underground river tours, the aviary, the beach and the Maya village alone take most people four to five hours before lunch, and the show does not start until around 7 pm, so leaving mid-afternoon means paying full price for roughly half the park. If you are combining Xcaret with other plans that same day, treat it as an early-morning-to-evening commitment rather than a quick stop, and bring a swimsuit and water shoes since the underground rivers are the main draw.

How to Get to Xcaret from Cancún Airport or Your Hotel

Xcaret sits about 74 km (45 miles) south of Cancún International Airport, roughly an hour by road along the coastal highway toward Tulum. From Playa del Carmen it is only about 6 km (4 miles), around 15 minutes. A metered taxi from Cancún runs roughly $80 to $100 USD one way, while a taxi from Playa del Carmen is closer to $15 USD. Public buses also run from Cancún’s bus terminal on Avenida Uxmal and from Playa del Carmen’s Quinta Avenida, and a free shuttle bus known locally as the Despeinado runs from the roadside entrance to the park gate about every 30 minutes between 8:30 am and 10 pm. If you drive yourself, parking is free on site.

None of that transport is included in the ticket price unless you add round-trip service when you book directly with the park or through an organized tour. If you would rather have your own vehicle and driver waiting on your schedule instead of a shared shuttle or a metered taxi, that is exactly the kind of trip a private transfer is built for.

Booking Direct vs. the Resort Tour Desk

Most hotel lobby tour desks mark up Xcaret tickets by 20 to 40 percent over the park’s own published rate, and some use a supposedly free tour or a steep discount voucher as bait to get you into a timeshare presentation that can eat half your vacation morning. The prices in this guide come from Xcaret’s own site, not from a resale markup. We do not sell park tickets ourselves, since Xcaret handles that directly, but if you would rather book straight from the park and only need the ride sorted separately, we can arrange a private vehicle for the trip with no strings attached and no presentation to sit through.
